Gamblers Backing a Seahorse
A pregnant seahorse who became the world's most prolific parent is being backed to break his baby record. William Hill have started taking bets on London Zoo's Samuel giving birth to more than 918 little ones - which is his biggest tally to date. Seahorses are the only species where the male gives birth. Hills are offering a range of odds with the chances of Samuel giving birth again to more than 900 at 8-1. The bookies will donate all profits from bets to a London Zoo project helping save seahorses from extinction. Hills spokesman Graham Sharpe said: "I have never before offered odds for a horse race with a possible 900 winners."
