New seadragon species discovered

Researchers at Scripps Institute of Oceanography have discovered a new species of seadragon—the third known to science. The researchers, whose paper was published this week in the journal Royal Society Open Science, used genetic testing of museum specimens to identify the new species, Phyllopteryx dewysea, which is thought to have been previously mistaken for the other two known species, P. taeniolatus and P. eques.
